No Problem Here

And we’re back. And if you think I was slacking last week just check out my art blog to see how wrong you are.

Here's another Father's day card. This one is from several years ago. My Dad sent it to me, because it was timely with the Thor movie that just came out. I use to use animals to represent my family all the time because I didn't think I could draw a cartoon likeness well enough.

This example of the work that lead up to the birth of 3rd Person Life is my Grandma’s birthday card. It’s a very inside joke, cause it was meant for her, but you can see an early version of cartoon Steve. I was doing the little orphan Annie eyes at the time. I changed them to what the comic has now because Shannon made a comment on how they looked weird or something. I like the eyes the characters have now, but these eyes served their purpose and I don’t regret using them.

So due to the overwhelming number of birthday cards I have to draw this week and issues God has chosen to send my way, I am taking this week to show you all something. What I’m going to post this week is some evolutionary steps on the way to the look and feel of the comic. 3rdPerson Life came from my doing personal comics for my family and friends. The look of the characters was gradually changed through what I was doing for my wife’s cards mostly, but several other cards formed the basic idea. So this first one is Father’s day last year. I didn’t have photoshop yet, so it’s colored pencil. You can see the beginnings of 3rd Person Life showing up here. Also cowboy hats are hard to draw. Thanks to Stan Lynde, creator of Rick O’ Shay, for showing me how to simplify the cowboy hat.

Lego Rage

Shannon and I love the Lego Video Games but we always seem to find ways to get mad at each other while playing them.

So you have no class?

So WoW stands for World of Warcraft, a massive online multiplayer game. Codex is a red haired Character from a Web series about World of Warcraft. Codex is not a race or class in the game.

It worked for that Spock guy.

Ah… Reverse polarization helps everything.

Skar keeps forgetting he’s a gold fish in a fish bowl. But despite that it seems he’ll stop at nothing to defeat his arch-enemy Steve! Too bad Steve doesn’t even know he has an arch-enemy.

Also sorry about the late post. The internet was down this morning.

Two Bats are better than one?

I apologize to the readers who won’t get this strip, because they have no idea who these guys are, or what in the world they’re talking about.

To be honest the real reason I wanted to do this comic was to draw BuckyCap and Steve Rogers: Super Soldier. Some real nice costumes.

So a few years ago you may have heard in the news that Captain America (Steve Rogers) died. Well, his recently returned from the dead former partner Bucky, then took up the mantle of Captain America. He had a new costume to go with his new role. Well then a few years later Steve returns. It turns out that he didn’t really die he was just trapped in time. Well instead of becoming Captain America again, he lets Bucky stay Cap and Becomes Steve Rogers head of shield. Then awhile later he decides he wants to be Captain America again and asked for the shield back from Bucky. Who I think will become just Bucky again.

Well across the street at DC comics. Batman (Bruce Wayne) died a few years ago. And his first and now former partner Dick Grayson (Nightwing) takes up the mantle of Batman. Well it turns out Bruce Wayne wasn’t really dead, but just lost in time. (really I’m not joking here) but when he returns, Dick doesn’t stop being Batman, they both stay Batman. Then Bruce goes to start a company of Batmen around the world. Well I love both Captain America and Batman so I couldn’t help but poke fun at both of them. A quick note about the Flash; Barry Allen returns after twenty years of being dead and Wally West who was the Flash for those twenty years, stays the Flash. There are two of them now, with just slight differences in costume. Seems to be a theme here folks.
